Brake issues likely caused log truck rollover

Stray logs closed Otwell Junction Wednesday afternoon when a log truck rolled over.

According to state police, the 1:50 p.m. incident occurred when the truck driver had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid running into another semi traveling through the State Road 56 and 257 intersection. The driver realized he was having trouble stopping as he was approaching the intersection and honked his horn to alert the other vehicles in the area. As the truck approached, the driver attempted to turn east onto State Road 56 to avoid the collision and the load shifted causing the rig to roll over.

The logs rolled off the load; some striking a nearby utility truck.

There were no injuries in the accident.

The intersection was closed for a short time and traffic was impeded for about two hours while the incident was cleared.
