Boston Marathon survivor to speak at Sneaker Soiree to support Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run serving Dubois County will host it’s Inaugural Sneaker Soiree on Friday, November 11, 2016 at KlubHaus 61 beginning at 6 p.m.
The evening, which encourages attendees to wear their sneakers in support of Girls on the Run will include cocktails, dinner and dancing to celebrate their success and secure their future.
The night will culminate with the journey of Patrick Downes a survivor of the Boston Marathon Bombing that occurred in 2013.
He and his wife Jessica were injured when the bomb went off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The young athletic couple weren’t participants, but like many Bostonians and tourists who join in the celebratory event, the two were enjoying the race near the finish line when the bombs went off.
Both lost their left leg below the knee and Jessica also sustained extensive injuries to her right foot.
Patrick returned to become a 2016 Finisher of the Boston Marathon.
Doors open at 6 p.m. followed by Dinner at 7 p.m., GOTR Coach Lori Lehane will introduce Patrick Downes at 7:30 p.m. and Dancing begins at 8 p.m.
