Fresh off their charge to the top of the Ohio Valley League, the Dubois County Bombers traveled south to Madisonville last night and came home with a win.

The Miners came into the game riding a hot hand of their own, possessing a 4-game winning streak that had pulled them within one game of the league lead after dropping their first four contests of the season.

But Dubois County scored early, often, and in bunches large and small. Everyone contributed to an onslaught that resulted in a 13-4 rout. All nine Bombers in the starting lineup collected at least one base hit.

Bombers coach Andy Lasher tabbed Ryan Dills to get the start on the mound. Dills scattered six hits through five innings, holding the Miners to two runs, both on a homer by Nolan Ramsey.

Drake McNamara doubled to lead off the Bomber second. He came in on a sacrifice fly by Mark Giesler.

Shortstop Jacob Snodgrass was in the middle of a 2-run third inning rally, doubling in Devyn Newberry, and scoring on a Nick Gobert sacrifice fly.

In the 4th the Bombers scored for the third consecutive inning. Back-to-back doubles by Giesler and catcher Cody Krumlauf made it 4-0.

Madisonville tightened it up to 4-2 on Ramsey’s home run in the bottom of the frame, but that was as close as they would come on this night.

Dubois County answered with three runs in the fifth to stretch the advantage to 7-2. Gobert stroked a double after Thomas Rea’s leadoff walk. McNamara and Morgan DePew followed with consecutive sacrifice flies. Giesler then singled, essentially starting a second rally in the same inning. Krumlauf was hit by a pitch. Newberry singled. Snodgrass reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Giesler. The Bomber lead was restored to 7-2 in the middle of the fifth.

Madisonville plated two runs in the sixth off of Bomber reliever Hunter Spencer, but Lucas Barnett put down the rally without further damage.

Newberry walked and stole second in the 8th. He scored on a Snodgrass single to make it 8-4.

In no hurry for the long bus ride home, the Bombers sent 11 batters to the plate in the ninth, scoring five runs on 8 hits. Singles by McNamara, DePew, Krumlauf, and Newberry produced a run and left the bases loaded for Snodgrass. The Olney Central infielder lashed a bases-clearing double, giving him five runs batted in on this night. When Rea singled Snodgrass in two batters later, all nine Bombers had collected at least one RBI in the contest.

Konner Eck pitched the bottom of the ninth to close out the Bombers’ third consecutive victory, and their seventh win in their last nine games. Over the last three days, Dubois County has outscored the opposition 37-9.

Dills picks up the win. He joins fellow Bombers Devin Williams and Willy Poe with 2-0 records.

At 7-4 for the season, Dubois County leads the league by one game over the 2nd place Fulton Railroaders.

The Hopkinsville Hoppers will provide the opposition. Hopkinsville is 4-5. They are tied for third place, two game behind the Bombers.
