Bombers announce Gobert will return to team as assistant coach
The Dubois County Bombers and head coach Andy Lasher announce the addition of Jasper High School and University of Dayton standout Nick Gobert to the Bombers coaching staff.
Gobert will be an assistant coach for the 2016 Bombers.
A significant contributor as a player with the 2014 and 2015 Bombers squads, Gobert is being added to the staff while rehabbing from shoulder surgery that cut his Dayton Flyer season short this spring.
“What Nick brings to the Bombers is solid baseball fundamentals along with a fierce competitive spirit that will benefit our young Bombers squad immensely,” according to Coach Lasher.
Gobert joins Lasher, base coach Morgan DePew and pitching coach, and Heritage Hills High School head baseball coach, Greg Gogel, on the Bombers staff.
All of the Bombers coaches were a part of the 2016 Championship Season when the Bombers won the Ohio Valley League Season Championship and the Ohio Valley League Tourney Championship. Lasher and Gogel were coaches while Gobert and DePew were players.
The Bombers open their season on Thursday, June 2nd with a home game at League Stadium in Huntingburg, IN.
