Bomb squad unit called to Jasper apartments for possible threat

Jasper— An Indiana State Police bomb squad unit was called to Anna’s Court in Jasper today after police received a tip about bomb-making items and explosives being located in an apartment there.

According to the Jasper Police Department, they and the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department received information at about 1 p.m. that bomb-making items and explosives could be found at 415 W. 42nd Street in Apartment 2. Both departments requested and received search warrants from the Dubois County Circuit Court to investigate the claims.

Officers with both departments and an Indiana State Police bomb squad responded to the apartment complex and evacuated all persons that were in immediate danger from a possible explosion.

The bomb squad then entered the residence and located suspicious devices that were subsequently rendered harmless.

Police seized evidence in the apartment and the investigation is still underway.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Along with the police departments, the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and Memorial Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
