Boehm files for Jasper clerk treasuer - Dubois County Free Press, Inc.

Juanita Boehm has filed as a Democrat to run for another term as Jasper’s clerk-treasurer.

Boehm, 61, is a lifelong resident of Jasper. She worked in public accounting for 23 years before becoming Jasper’s clerk-treasurer in 1996.

“It is important to have someone in the clerk-treasurer’s position that is experienced and understands the laws, policies, and guidelines that govern the budget process and the receiving and spending of money,” Boehm said. “Property tax law changes, rising costs, and state mandates have affected the budget and have made it more challenging to keep the city fiscally sound,” Boehm said. “With the departments, mayor, clerk-treasurer, and board members working together and understanding each other’s responsibilities and goals, we have been able to move forward as well as continue to provide the same quality of services our citizens deserve and expect.”

Boehm is a Jasper High School graduate and has a degree in business, accounting and management from Sullivan Business College in Louisville. She is also member of the Indiana Municipal League of Clerk-Treasurers and the Indiana Society of Public Accountants.

She was a finalist for the Athena Award in 2014. The award recognizes outstanding women leaders in the community.

She was also recognized as an outstanding JHS alumnus in 2000.

She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she serves on the finance commission. She is also on the Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Advisory Board, Dubois County Community Meals board. She is also a volunteer with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.) and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She is also a Jasper Jaycees Associate Member and a member of Women of the Moose. She serves as Treasurer for the Northwood Condominium Homeowners Association.

“The people of Jasper work hard in many ways to make this a unique and special community that is admired by many people throughout the state,” Boehm said. “I want to continue doing my part by serving as one of Jasper’s elected officials.”
