Blake C. Gutgsell, 53, Schnellville

Blake C. Gutgsell, 53 of Schnellville, passed away at 11:24 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Blake was born on November 25, 1967 to Robert L. and Monica R. “Rosie” (Nordhoff) Gutgsell.  

He married Lisa Fleck on March 13, 1993 in St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Blake was a lifelong lover of wood. He was a home builder with a passion for interior woodworking. His talent for his trade can be seen in the stairways, floor, and trim work in numerous area homes.  

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Schnellville Conservation Club.

His strength in his battle was his love for his wife and sons. He was a loyal, loving, trusted, and sincere person to everyone he met.   

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Gutgsell of Schnellville; two sons, Harrison and Max Gutgsell of Schnellville; one sister, Audrey Lichlyter (Zach) of Jasper; five brothers, Bret Gutgsell (Kristina) of Schnellville, Bernie Gutgsell (Theresa) of Schnellville, Bruce Gutgsell (Denise) of Celestine, Brad Gutgsell (Melinda) of Schnellville, and Mark Gutgsell (Tracy) of Schnellville; father-in-law, Jerome Fleck of St. Anthony.

Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents, and his mother-in-law, Jane Fleck.   

The visitation for Blake will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. Due to the pandemic, visitation will be restricted inside the church.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon, which will be a private service for immediate family. Graveside services will be open to the public. Masks and social distancing will be required for the visitation and Mass.   

The family would still like you to join them to celebrate Blake in an outdoor luncheon at the shelter house at the Schnellville Community Center immediately following the graveside services.
