Birdseye man severely injured in ATV accident
Investigators reported alcohol was believed to be a factor in a head-on collision between an ATV and pickup truck that severely injured a Birdseye man Sunday evening.
According to Indiana Conservation officers, Aaron Huff, 19, of Birdseye, was operating an ATV shortly before 6 p.m. near the Chapin Road and October Road intersection in Perry County when he ran head-on into a pickup truck.
Huff was not wearing a helmet or any safety equipment at the time of the accident.
Huff was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with severe head trauma and broken bones. The driver of the pickup, Richard Lawrence of Ferdinand, received minor injuries.
Assisting agencies at the scene included the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and Perry County Emergency Medical Services.
