Birdseye man charged with possession of child pornography

A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCEMC) led to a Birdseye man being arrested on charges of possession of child pornography.

According to police, the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force responded to 2444 South Kings Ridge Road early Wednesday morning after receiving a cyber tip from the NCMEC.

Based on the tip, police believed child pornography was uploaded to the internet from the residence. A search warrant was executed, and investigators established probable cause for the arrest of Charles Jacob Allen Dewett, 22.

Dewitt was taken into custody and lodged at the Dubois County Security Center.

Dubois County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana Department of Child Services assisted in the investigation.
