The Very Big Show (of Support) talent lineup
The Jasper Arts Center will be showcasing an array of local talent in The Very Big Show (of Support) as part of the community-wide GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE! fundraising campaign on Friday, May 19th.
All proceeds from the day’s events, including the variety show, will benefit the Jasper LEADs (Library, Enrichment, Arts, Downtown) campaign in support of the Cultural Center construction, the renovation and preservation efforts at the historic Astra Theatre, and the renovation of the current Jasper Arts Center.
The following local acts will be performing.
Strings, Inc. is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing professional personalized violin instruction. Dance Central Academy of Performing Arts is a studio providing instruction for jazz,
Dance Central Academy of Performing Arts is a studio providing instruction for jazz, theatre, tap, hip-hop, ballet, clogging, lyrical, and music.
Sydney Traylor, Jasper High School senior and member of the Society of Fine Arts Club, will demonstrate the technique of speed painting.
Bob Ahlemeier, Huntingburg resident, owner of the Old School Café, and veteran magician, will present Magic with Style.
Actors Community Theatre, an area community theatre group, will make an appearance.
Gene Baldwin will entertain the audience with a humorist essay.
Ed Walston, Suzanne Denning, Kris Lasher, and Micheal Gregson, all members of the band Timepeace, will rock-out with 1960’s music.
Katie Winkler, Forest Park student and winner of the Indiana Destination Imagination talent contest, and global qualifier, will perform poetry and play the ukulele.
Brother and sister duo Justin and Hannah Rottet will be playing guitar and singing.
Ray Major will play many styles of music on a wide variety of instruments.
Kyle Rupert and Heath Kluemper will perform as masters of ceremony. Kyle is the Jasper Community Arts Director and Heath is a Jasper Community Arts Special Events Committee member.
Take part in a raffle for items from The Next Act, Inc., the Jasper Public Library, Actors Community Theatre, and Jasper Community Arts.
Doors open at 6 PM, the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available online at www.jasperarts.org, at the Jasper Arts Center, Jasper City Hall, or the Jasper Public Library.
