Bieker takes on substance abuse coordinator role

The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council recently appointed Jenna Bieker as the organization’s new coordinator.

The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council is an organization dedicated to promoting substance-free living to create a healthy, safe Dubois County for families to grow in.

The group hired Bieker with hopes that her college education, varied experiences, vibrant personality, dedication to a strong Dubois County community, and long time involvement in substance abuse prevention will allow her to continue to grow and improve the council’s work.

Jenna was born in raised in Saint Anthony. Her parents are, Jake and Sharon Bieker. Bieker has been interested in the criminal justice system since she was a teenager. Her family’s involvement in the local justice system gave her a front-row seat to study the specific concerns of the community.

Jenna has worked as an intern with the Dubois County Probation Department, Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office, Purdue Extension office, as well as shadowed in Community Corrections and the Sheriff’s Department.

Bieker hopes this experience and her bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and psychology from Indiana University Southeast will allow her to combine her understanding of the community, the psychology behind substance misuse, and the criminal justice system in multi-faceted effort to reduce substance use and improve the community.

The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council welcomes Jenna and is excited to see what positive growth comes next for the council’s efforts.

The public is invited to learn about what is happening with the council by attending their monthly meetings—the second Tuesday of every month, 11:00 a.m. EST, in the back room of Shoney’s in Jasper, Indiana.
