Betty L. Wigand, 88

Betty L. Wigand, 88, of Ireland , Indiana, passed away at 10:52 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Betty was born in Dubois, IN on January 1, 1926 to Fred and Elsie (Breitweiser) Zehr. She married Cyril J. Wigand on July 2, 1946 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2012

She and her husband operated the Wigand Grocery Store in Ireland for many years. She assisted in the operation of the Cyril Wigand Insurance Agency and also worked at G.E in Huntingburg during WWII. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafting, gardening, and quilting.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Toni Weyer and her husband Marvin, of Ferdinand; two sons, John Wigand and his wife Donna, and Patrick Wigand, and his wife Patti, both of Jasper; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one sister, LaVeta Weber

Funeral Services for Betty L. Wigand will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
