Betty A. Gerber, 83, Jasper
Betty A. Gerber, 83, of Jasper, passed away at 5:12 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Jasper on July 5, 1932 to Homer and Aurelia (Troxler) Jones. She married Eugene F. Gerber on June 15, 1968 in Jasper. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2004.
Betty was a house parent for many years for the Dubois County Young Persons Residence Center she also was a headstart teacher for Sir’s and taught at Vincennes University Jasper Campus for eleven years. She also worked for Ploetner- Beaven and Kemker Medical Office and Kimball International.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church- Daughters of Isabella and the St. Ann’s Society. Also the Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Auxiliary and the Jasper Lions Club. Also the Randy Travis Fan Club.
She enjoyed country music, especially Randy Travis, and the family 4th of July celebration.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Resenbeck Neukam of Jasper and Diana Resenbeck Burch and husband Greg of Hopkinsville, Ky.; two sons, Joe Resenbeck of Colorado and Doug Resenbeck and wife Mary of San Diego, Cali.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Geneva Jones of Florida; also, many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are three brothers, Norbert, Thomas and Homer Jones; also, one son-in-law Ed Neukam.
Funeral services for Betty Gerber will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2015, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Rosary will be held at 1:45 p.m. by the D of I’s and the St. Ann’s Society at the funeral home.
