Betta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa March meeting minutes
Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary sorority for women educators, met on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Jasper Public Library.
The members took a group tour of the student art displays for “Youth Art Month” and a tour of the cultural center led by Casey Ubelhor. Kelsey Hernandez was a guest.
After the tour, the ladies sat down for a sack lunch, prepared by the March Fellowship Committee: Clara Fromme, Margaret Buechler, Susan McGovern, and Brooke Elrod.
The meeting began with Beth Meece reading the devotion, “An Irish Blessing”. Secretary Sue Ann Burns read roll call with twenty members present. Minutes, sent out ahead of the meeting, were approved after Sandy Miller made the motion to approve with a second from Paula Peter. Thank you notes were read from the Anna Mae Benning family, Dubois County Cares, and St. Paul UCC. Treasurer Brooke Elrod announced the February fundraiser brought $502.26 and donations of $70.00 for Dubois County Cares. Altruistic Paula Peter reported members volunteered 5,392 hours of public service to the community; $2,173.00 in non-monetary gifts, and $6,572.00 in monetary gifts. Academic Grant leader Brooke Elrod notified Sydney Schmitt that she had won the academic grant. Ways and Means Sandy Miller ordered more shirts for sale.
The summer outing on Thursday, June 11, will be at Alcohol Acres, a Patoka Lake winery, brewery, and distillery. Members will meet at 10:00 behind Fazoli’s.
Marie Patton presented a list of new officers for the coming two years: Ava Widoff, president; Past President Beth Meece; Kathy Bachman, secretary; Shelley Weinzapfel and Jessica Mehringer, historians; Brooke Dlrod, treasurer; and president-elect yet to be decided.
Thanks to all who supplied money and items for care baskets for those who cannot come to the meetings. Marie Patton, Sue Ann Burn, Clara Fromme, and Beth Meece put the baskets together. Those receiving baskets were Johnnie Heeke, Janet Kluemper, Delores Lueken, Bonnie Wininger, Brenda Bender, Jane Hunefeld and Margaret Buechler.
Indiana State ADK Convention is April 17-18 in Plainfield, Indiana. Two baskets containing gifts cards and gardening items will be taken to convention.
March birthdays are 3- Kristy Dilger and 22- Brenda Hurm. The next meeting will be Thursday, April 9, at Holy Family Fellowship Hall. The presentation will be on autism by Leslie Kidd from ABA Clinic in Jasper. The meeting adjourned with the singing of the “Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa”.
