Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa October meeting minutes

Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary sorority for Women Educators, met on Thursday, October 9, at Holy Family Fellowship Hall in Jasper. President Beth Meece welcomed all and thanked the October Fellowship committee —Sandy Miller, Kathy Bachman, Johnnie Heeke, and Clara Fromme —for providing sandwiches, salad, chips, and dessert.

Brenda Hurm presented a program on “Personal Health.”  She used books such as Ageless Aging and Mayo Clinic’s book,  Guide to Better Vision. She shared several ideas on preparing for emergencies, sleep habits, and general healthcare.

Barb Kendall gave a devotion called “God’s Gift.”  September’s minutes, sent out several days in advance, were approved after Christine Betz made the motion, and Sandy Miller seconded it. Secretary Sue Ann Burns called the roll call with nineteen members present. She also read thank-you notes from Janet Kluemper and the Dubois County Museum, expressing gratitude for a donation in memory of Janet’s husband, David Kluemper. Treasurer Brooke Elrod collected incoming dues and reported last month’s money for Dubois County Cares. Her report will be filed for audit.

Under the Standing Committee reports, Altruistic Paula Peter reminded members to keep a record of time and money spent for the year. With October being ADK month, Connie Messmer Brenner passed out lotion/Kleenex to all members. She also provided a program celebrating ADK month about our founders—Connie Messmer Brenner, Kathy Bachman, Shelley Weinzapfel, Jessica Meringer, and Christine Betz (all holding candles) —who shared in the presentation. Kathy Bachman read a Proclamation given to our club by Mayor Dean Vonderheide.

For Courtesy, Janet Kluemper said Stella Bennett sent a note to Kristy Dilger, who had surgery. For Fraternity Education, Shelley Weinzapfel gave each member post-it notes to share a “favorite memory’ or “what members like best about the chapter.”  Membership’s Brenda Hurm said Delores Lueken’s form for “limited status” is ready to be sent. Sandy Miller, Ways and Means, announced that purple shirts are in and that she is prepared to pick the logo for them. She also ordered totes.
