Bernard R. Gehlhausen, 82, Newburgh

Bernard R. Gehlhausen, 82, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

He was born December 12, 1939, in Jasper, to Paul and Gertrude (Gadlage) Gehlhausen.

He retired from Clarke Power Services.

Bernie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, was a member of their Men’s Club and was a Lecter and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8746.

He loved the outdoors, working in his yard and garden. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Bernie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Erlene J. Gehlhausen; children, Annette Glaser (Greg), Jeff Gehlhausen (Carla), Kevin Gehlhausen (Brooke), Nick Gehlhausen, and Brian Gehlhausen (Tina); 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and siblings, Jim Gehlhausen (Shirley), Neil Gehlhausen (Carol), Sharon Brown (Jr), Dan Gehlhausen (Pat), Vernon Gehlhausen (Karen) and Paul Gehlhausen (Margaret).

A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, with entombment in St. John Cemetery. Family and friends may visit Monday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Gibault Child Services or Right to Life of Southwest Indiana.
