Bernard “Bernie” M.  Burger, 88, Jasper

Bernard “Bernie” M.  Burger, 88, of Jasper, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Cathedral Health Care in Jasper.

Bernie was born in Jasper on July 6, 1928, to Fidelis and Clara (Prechtel) Burger. He married Doris Mathias on May 10, 1955, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Loogootee. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2001.

He retired from Jasper Cabinet Company where he had worked for many years. Bernie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper K of C, the Jasper Moose, Jasper Outdoor Recreation and the Ireland Sportsman Club. He enjoyed playing cards and golf.

Surviving are one son, Gerard Burger and his wife Tracy of Jasper; one daughter, Bonnie Pinney and her husband Jeff of Patoka; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are one son, Garland Joseph Burger; two sisters, Edwina Begle and Virginia Burger; and one brother, Edwin Burger.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard M. “Bernie” Burger will be held at 11:00 a.m. onFriday, June 16, 2017 , t St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Southern Care Hospice or to a favorite charity.
