Bernard (Barney) Moeller, 89, of Jasper, passed away at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Springs Valley Meadows Health Care in French Lick.

He was born in Ferdinand, Indiana on December 30, 1925 to Leo and Veronica (Helming) Moeller. He was married to Catherine (Doris) Dosch on September 28, 1946. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1993. He married Valeda Jahn on July 7, 2001, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

Barney Moeller was a WWII Army veteran serving with the 100th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Silver Star during WWII. He was named the Dubois County distinguished Veteran of the year 2003. He retired from Kimball International where he worked in quality control for nearly forty years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church., V.F.W. Post # 673, American Legion Post # 147, Jasper Knight of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans, Dubois County Museum and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club. He was an avid golfer, Bowler and enjoyed playing cards and doing volunteering work at the Museum.

He is survived by his wife, Valeda Moeller; son, Gary Moeller and wife Nancy of Jasper; two step-daughters, Carla Newton of Greensboro, N.C. and Geri Ziegler and husband Ted of Jasper; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-step-granddaughter; two brothers, Dennis Moeller and wife Mary of Jasper and Jerome Moeller and wife Camilla of Evansville; one sister, Rose Dick of Greenwood, Ind.

Preceding him in death besides his first wife are one step daughter Gail Campbell, and two sisters, Rita Webber and Sr. Mary Marcellus SP.

Funeral services for Bernard Moeller will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct Military Grave Side Rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, The Dubois County Museum, St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.

Dubois County Disabled American Veterans Chapter #77 will holdĀ a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel.
