Bernadine A. “Bernie” Heath, 90, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Bernie was born on April 23, 1924 in Dubois, Indiana to Ben and Mary (Reuber) Humbert.  She married Ralph E. Heath on December 19, 1970.  He preceded her in death on April 7, 2007.

Bernie and her husband Ralph founded and operated the Jasper Laundry and Drycleaners, and were co-owners in R&B Men’s Wear. She also worked as a waitress for over 35 years at the Jasper Knights of Columbus. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and their St. Ann’s Society. She was also a member of the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella.

She was a member of the American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary, The Women of the Moose,  the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Grandmothers Club.

She was an avid card and bingo player.

She is survived by one son, Jim Heath and his wife Sue of Crossville, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Melodie Heath of Clearwater, Fla.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband, was one son, Fred Heath; one daughter, Diane H. Carie; one sister, Marie Humbert who died in infancy; three grandchildren, Timothy Carie, Joseph T. Wininger, and Jonas Heath, and one great grandchild, Diana Wininger.

Funeral services for Bernie A. Heath will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.  The St. Ann’s Society and Jasper D of I will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m.  The American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary will perform a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
