Benjamin H. Walker, 85

Benjamin H. Walker, 85, passed away in Findlay, Ohio, February 28, 2015 surrounded by the love of his family.
Ben was born November 17, 1929 in Gentryville, Indiana to the late Ethel D. Walker and James I. Walker.
He is a graduate of Dale High School, class of 1947 and Purdue University, class of 1951 with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He had the honor of filling the 500,000th prescription at the Purdue University pharmacy. He was a licensed pharmacist in Indiana and Ohio. He served in the United States Army during Germany’s postwar reconstruction, living abroad with his new wife, Joanne.
Ben married his college sweetheart, Joanne (Jodie) Pfleger Walker in 1951 who survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters and a son, Pamela (Richard) Makowski, Columbus, Mark (Tammi) Walker, Springboro, Barbara (Kirk) Gazette, Findlay, and Cynthia (Chet) Shedloski, Hudson; nine grandchildren Emily Walker, Stephen Shedloski, Caroline Walker, Sarah Shedloski, Alison Shedloski, Benjamin Makowski, Benjamin T. Walker, Gabrielle Gazette, and Hannah Gazette; a brother, Charles (Dick) Walker; a sister-in-law, Ruth Richardson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben had an enjoyable career as a pharmaceutical salesman for Parke-Davis (later Pfizer) for 38 years. He often commented that he was lucky to have an occupation that allowed him to spend time calling on friends. Ben, an avid golfer, was a Past President of Shawnee Country Club and served as a board member for numerous years. Ben was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Santa Claus, Indiana, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio, St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon, Ohio and St. Michael of the Archangel, Findlay, Ohio.
Ben treasured time with Jodie and friends wintering in Sebring, Florida. He was a family man, often vacationing with his children, his children’s spouses and grandchildren. One of his favorite traditions was taking everyone out on the boat for fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Friends and family may call Monday, March 23, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Fuller Funeral Home, Dale, Indiana.
There will be a mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10:00 A.M.. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Santa Claus, Indiana.
