Bell running for Jasper Council District 3 seat

John C. Bell is seeking the Republican nomination for the Jasper Common Council of District 3.

Bell, 49, grew up in Jasper all his life. After graduating from Purdue University, he eventually made his way back to Jasper and worked at Kimball International for seven years, mostly serving as the Quality Assurance Manager and acting as a liaison between the sales and manufacturing divisions.

In 2000, he accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer at Williams Bros. Health Care Pharmacy.  Last year, he became an owner in a partnership that started TrueScripts Management Services and also serves as the Chief Operating Officer.

“I love the city of Jasper and feel we have a unique and special place to live,” Bell said. “The hard work ethic and pride in our community is the backbone of our success. You can’t beat the home town feel of our community. Yet, we still need to push forward to grow the City of Jasper in order for us to continue to be prosperous and competitive with future businesses seeking to expand or join our community.”

Bell has been active in the community and shaping the future of the city. He served on the Parklands Advisory Board, and Library Building Committee. He also participated in the Downtown and Riverfront planning. He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and serves on the Young Life Finance Committee and is the president of the Business Alliance Network Organization. Bell is also the president of the Jasper Redevelopment Commission.

“I have coached youth sports almost every season that our children were participating in over a 15 year span,” Bell said. “Now that all three children, Nalon, Madysan and Corban, have grown up, it has freed my time up to be active in other activities and give back to the community in a different way. Over the past 6 years, I have been fortunate to participate in many community activities.”

Bell says that the new and exciting opportunities for the City of Jasper will strengthen the city’s growth, diversity, and stability. “In order to achieve all of this, I feel strongly that all city departments, councils, and commissions will need to work closely together to achieve success,” he said. “As Jasper Redevelop Commission President and potentially having the honor to serve on the Jasper Common Council, I feel this would help the connectivity of these two entities that need to work closely together as we move forward redeveloping and building our city.”

Bell believes that in business and in civic organizations, it has always been critical for city leaders to have the ability to collaborate with multiple different viewpoints to achieve a common goal.

“I have years of experience in leadership and serving on committees. I am very approachable and tackle issues with an open mind,” Bell said. ” I feel my past experiences can be an asset in serving on the Jasper Common Council.  I have pride in our community, and I will commit to work hard if I have the opportunity to represent District 3 as their representative.”
