Barbara Ann Willhite (Eckerle)(Lorey), 72, Alfordsville

Barbara Ann Willhite (Eckerle)(Lorey), 72, of Alfordsville, went to be with Jesus on February 2, 2025, at 11:50 a.m. at Poplar Care Strategies Nursing home in Loogootee.

She was born to Linus and Anna Lee (Hardin) Lorey on June 10, 1952.

She graduated from Dubois High School in 1970.

She married Kelly Gene Eckerle on May 12, 1973.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Willhite, whom she married on July 1, 2006. She is also survived by her children, Jaime (Alvin) Planck of Indianapolis, Lorie (Chad) Shaffer of Washington, Sheena (Jacob) Stemen of Loogootee, and Kody (Brooke) Eckerle of Washington; siblings, Larry Lorey, Kim Lorey, and Paula Rogers also survive; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, parents and brothers, Tony and Doug Lorey, and sister, Lila Seger.

Barbara took great pride in her work and was employed by Decora for 26 years. She loved spending time with her family and traveling. She especially loved watching her grandkids.

Barbara was generous with her time and always thinking of others, considering them before herself.

Her last wishes were to donate her body to Indiana University.

A celebration of life service will be held at Antioch Bible Church in Washington, with Keith Meece officiating Sunday, February 16, 2025. Doors will open at 3:00 with the service starting at 4:00 p.m.
