Auction for Jasper park properties this Thursday

The City of Jasper will auction three Parks and Recreation Department properties this Thursday evening at 6 p.m.

The properties were slotted to be sold to replenish the City’s Rainy Day Fund after the $1,087,795 purchase of The Parklands property.

The properties being sold are the 19-acre Lechner property near Lechner and Gregory lanes, the 13-acre 30th Street Park and 10 acres northwest of St. Charles Street and Truman Road.

The Jasper Board of Public Works approved setting the reserve on the three properties at 90 percent of the average of the two appraisals completed on each one. Those appraisals were not made public.

According to City Attorney Renee Kabrick, the minimum required sale price of the three park properties will not be enough to replenish all that was taken from the Rainy Day Fund for The Parkland purchase. Another factor in that shortfall is the common council’s decision to not sell the Bockelman property. The council felt the property located north of Buffalo Trace Golf Course was too valuable due to its location to let go.

Brahm and Brahm of Ferdinand is handling the auction to be held in the Pfaffenweiller Room of City Hall, 610 Main Street. Each property will be sold separately in a live bid auction with the reserve set at 90 percent of the average of the two appraisals the city had completed. Financing has to be pre-arranged prior to bidding.
