Arthur L. Wanninger, 84

Arthur L. Wanninger, age 84, of Jasper, passed away at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
Arthur was born on December 5, 1929 in Evansville to Joseph and Irene (Wulf) Wanninger.
He married Joan Sermersheim on June 26, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN .
Arthur retired as an electrical engineer from McDonnel Douglas Aircraft Company where he worked for 30 years.
He was a Disabled American Veteran who served in the Army during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart for injuries received during combat.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and it’s Holy Name Society, and the American Legion Post #147.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, tinkering with electronics, and working on small engines.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Wanninger, of Jasper; three daughters, Patricia Wanninger, and her fiancé Melvin Stenftenagel, of Jasper, Carol Jannick, and her former husband Greg Jannick, of Florissant, Mo., Juilie Walker and her husband Dennis, Charlotte, N.C.; one son, Alan Wanninger and his wife Helen Jackson, Lonedell, Mo.; seven grandchildren – Vanessa and Tiffany Woolsey, Amanda Eye and Steven Jannick, Kassandra and Rachel Walker, and Sebastian Wanninger. three great-grandchildren – Alyssa and Emma Eye, and Colton Woolsey; one brother, Joseph Wanninger and wife Kathy, of Jasper.
Preceding him in death is one daughter, Janice Wanninger, one brother, Leo Wanninger, and one sister, Helen Roos.
Funeral services for Arthur Wanninger will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, IN with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, or to a favorite charity.
