Area High School bands perform well opening weekend

Marching band competition opened on Saturday night with area bands performing well.

The competition was held at Evansville Central High School and area schools finished this way:

In Class A: South Spencer finished first; Perry Central fourth; Crawford County seventh; Northeast Dubois eighth; and Tecumseh ninth.

In Class AA: Southridge finished second; Boonville third; Orleans fourth.

In Class AAA: Forest Park finished first; Springs Valley second.

In Class AAAA: Jasper finished first; Castle second.

The Grand Champion of the Competition was the Jasper High School marching band.

These results are just the beginning of a very busy time for marching bands as they prepare to compete almost every weekend, culminating with the ISSMA finals in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium at the end of October.
