Annual Jasper Chalk Walk goes virtual
In response to the continued restrictions in place due to coronavirus, Jasper Community Arts will host the 17th annual Chalk Walk Arts Festival as a virtual tour of local chalk art rather than in downtown Jasper.
According to Corina Mack, the events coordinator, the arts department has noticed all the sidewalk chalk art happening in the area, and the Jasper Arts Department is excited to see more. For the 2020 Chalk Walk, residents are encouraged to create a chalk masterpiece in their driveway, sidewalk or on a fence in their backyard while following the current social distancing guidelines.
When it is finished, submit a photo of the work to jcaevents@jasperindiana.gov with the artist’s first name and first initial of their last name and age. This information will be posted with the photo unless submission indicates otherwise. Please limit entries to one piece of artwork with one photo per person. Deadline for emailing photos is 11:59 p.m., Friday, May 29th.
Photos must be sent to the email listed to be eligible to win a prize.
Next, they’ll post the photos to Facebook on Monday, June 1st to allow the public to vote for their favorites. The artwork with the most likes in each category by 10:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2020, will be the winners.
This is a free event with a chance to win prizes.
We’ll announce the winners on Facebook Saturday, June 6.
