Annual American Flag Disposal Ceremony for Dubois County next Friday, June 12

The public and the local community throughout Dubois County and the surrounding area are cordially invited to attend and participate in the 2026 Annual American Flag Disposal Ceremony for Dubois County.

The annual ceremony for the dignified disposal of worn, used, torn, faded, and unserviceable US American Flags, State Flags, Service Flags, etc., will be conducted by the Dubois County Veterans Council (DCVC) on Friday, June 12, at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m./1900 hours.

The playing of patriotic songs by Mike Klem (recorded), the National Anthem, Taps, and the recitation of the “Pledge of Allegiance,” along with other military honors, will highlight the dignified and somber disposal ceremony.

David Stockburger, the current President of the DCVC, will preside over the ceremony. The ceremony will be hosted by American Legion Post #343 Holland.

The public is asked to bring their unserviceable and worn/torn flags to the actual ceremony, or they can drop them off at any of the local veterans organizations located throughout the county.  Due to the number of flags involved in this once-a-year event, their actual burning/disposal will continue after the solemn ceremony.

We hope to see many of you there as we publicly honor one of our greatest American symbols during this 250th birthday of our country.

Happy Flag Day Sunday, June 14.

Please watch for other activities and support Dubois County, the State of Indiana and the whole country as we celebrate and Honor AMERICA’s 250th BIRTHDAY.

Thank you to all the organizations and departments throughout the county that help make this annual event a huge success.
