Anna Virlee Boerste, 86, Ferdinand

Anna Virlee Boerste, 86, of Ferdinand, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

Anna was born January 13, 1931, in Dale to Merlyn and Kathryn Elliot. She was united in marriage to Orville (Buddy) Boerste on February 3, 1951, in St. Joseph Church in Dale. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1991.

Anna was a member of Christ the King Parish-St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand, and Daughters of Isabella.

She was a resilient woman with strong convictions. Anna was an avid dog lover and puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed playing cards and was well known for her green thumb when it came to gardening and took special pride in growing her own beautiful roses. She also enjoyed praying the rosary. Anna was a devout Catholic and during her daily reflection would say the rosary as she was a woman of Faith.

She is survived by one son, Jerome (Melissa) Boerste of Manassas, Va.; four grandchildren, Amanda Boerste, Kellie (Caleb) Herschler, Graigory (Jessica) Boerste and Justin Boerste; four great-grandchildren, Erik and Emily Boerste and Elijah and Savannah Herschler; and two brothers, John M. Elliot and Jerome C. Elliot.

Anna was preceded in death by a son, Michael L. Boerste; and four sisters, Mary Agnes Philipps, Ethal Joe Schaeffer, Kathleen Hile and Martha Nell Cook.

Funeral services for Anna Virlee Boerste will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16, in Christ the King Parish-St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 7 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
