Anna Rose Austin, 85

Anna Rose Austin, age 85, of Birdseye, Indiana, passed away at 12:17 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

She was born March 4, 1928 in Dubois County, Indiana to Oscar J. and Isabelle (Merkley) Schnell, the youngest of seven siblings.

She married Guy N. Austin, Jr. on November 6, 1951 in Monmouth, New Jersey.

Anna Rose was a homemaker and also worked as a cafeteria cook at Forest Park High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville.

She was preceded in death by: one granddaughter, Contesa Austin; and was the last surviving sibling in her family.

Fifteen grandchildren, Timothy (Laura) Kahle, Lesha (Mitchell) McCoy, Heather (Cy) Kirk, Colin Austin, Elliott (Mary) Hagedorn, Isabel (Matt) Makowski, Camille Hagedorn, Anna Hagedorn, Ashley Austin, Cody Austin, Shelby Austin, Logan Mohr, Isaac Austin, Guy Austin and Brice Austin,

and six great grandchildren, Grace & Gibson Kahle, Amanda & Cameron McCoy, McKayla & Nathan Kirk.

Funeral services for Anna Rose Austin will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00-8:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Sunday; and also at church, Monday morning, from 9:00 a.m., E.D.T. until the time of the funeral. A parish rosary prayer service will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m., E.D.T., at the funeral home.
