Anna Mae Buening, 79

Anna Mae Buening, 79, of Huntingburg, passed away at 3:40 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
She was born April 25, 1935 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Louis and Josephine (Hassfurther) Braunecker.
Mrs. Buening worked for many years at the St. Meinrad Archabbey. After her retirement from the Abbey, she decided to re-enter the workforce and went to work for Walmart. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and former longtime parishioner of St. Henry Catholic Church. Anna Mae’s pride and joy, and what she considered her greatest accomplishment, were her six children and grandchildren. Her priority in life was always focused on her family; but she also had a love of sports, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Pacers, and IU Hoosiers.
She was preceded in death by one son, Tom Buening; three brothers, Leonard, Louis and Lee Braunecker; and one sister, Bernita Smith.
Anna Mae is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Paula and her husband, Jack Maxey of Huntingburg and Beth and Tom Noppenberger of University Park, Fla.; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Bernie and Becky Buening of Huntingburg, Joe and Christine Buening of Huntingburg, and John and Karla Buening of Evansville; her daughter-in-law, Janice Buening of Huntingburg; two sisters, Dorothy Thais of Vincennes and Marian Sherman of New Albany; one brother, Jim Braunecker of New Castle, Delaware; by fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Anna Mae Buening will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Saint Henry, Indiana, with burial to follow at St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00-8:00 p.m., EST on Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Henry Catholic Church.
