Ambrose A. Pfister, 98, Jasper

Ambrose A. Pfister, 98, Jasper, passed away at 11:36 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
Ambrose was born on July 20, 1918, in Jasper to Amos and Elizabeth (Streicher) Pfister. He married Mildred Fritch on December 6, 1945, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2000.
Ambrose retired from Kimball, Jasper Laminates after 28 years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 1st Battalion, 152nd Infantry. He served in New Guinea from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the VFW Post #673 and the American Legion Post #147. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed bowling, traveling and playing cards.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Kasprzak of Jasper and Ann Bonam of Jasper; four grandchildren, Andrew Kasprzak and wife Jolee, Michelle Kasprzak, Nicholas Bonam and Luke Bonam; one step-grandchild, Miles Moffett; one sister, Rose Mehringer of Jasper; one brother, Ed Pfister and wife Joan of Jasper.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were three brothers, Donald, Dennis and Leon Pfister.
Funeral services for Ambrose Pfister will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Thursday at the church.
