Ambrose C. Buechlein, 78

Ambrose C. Buechlein, age 78, of Jasper, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on June 13, 2012 at home.
Ambrose was born on November 3, 1933 to George and Theresa (Fritz) Buechlein. He married Delores Wagoner on November 26, 1955. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2010.
Ambrose served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, He was the Dubois County Recorder for 8 years, the past Recycling Coordinator for the Dubois County Solid Waste District, and also owned Das Ambrose Smokhaus in Jasper for many years.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, past commander of the American Legion Post #147, Chef de Gore of the 40 & 8 #813, past president of the Jasper Kiwanis Club, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #673, , and a member of the Jasper Council of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing sheephead, and being outdoors. He was also an avid collector of decanters and antique items.

Preceding Ambrose in death besides his wife is one brother, Maurice Buechlein.
Funeral services for Ambrose Buechlein will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday (June 18, 2012) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The V.F.W. Post #673 and the American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rights.
Friends may call from Noon until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday (June 17, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
