Amazing talent
Congratulations are definitely in order for Forest Park High School freshman Magda Alvis, whose artwork, “Mixing Up the Music,” has been selected for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.
Magda was one of five students from Region 5 (which includes 18 southwestern Indiana counties) whose artwork was selected for this auspicious honor.
She will receive $25 and a Certificate of Achievement at the Gala Awards Ceremony on May 6 at Indiana Landmarks in Indianapolis.
More that 21,000 students participated throughout the state, and Magda’s artwork has advanced to the finals where a total of 30 Grand Award winners will be chosen from the five Indiana Regions. This competition is held every four years.
Tammy Taylor is the art educator at Forest Park High School. Magda is the daughter of Andrea Hoelscher and Robert Alvis.
