Aloysius Welp, age 84

Aloysius Welp, age 84, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 11:25 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Brookside Village in Jasper.

He was born June 3, 1927 in Huntingburg to Frank and Anna (Loew) Welp. Al was a retired farmer; a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, where he was a Mass server for many years; a member of the Holy Name Society; and a former board member of the St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by: one brother, Karl Welp; and five sisters – Lauretta Verkamp, Agnes Durcholz, Selma Hoing, Lena Logsdon, and Sr. Rose Therese.

He is survived by:

  •  Anna Marie (Fleck) Welp – Huntingburg, IN,

Three sons,

  •  Eugene “Gene” Welp – Ferdinand, IN,
  •  Ron Welp – Evansville, IN,
  •  Kevin Welp – Phoenix, Arizona,

One daughter,

  •  Diane Buschkoetter – Lake St. Louis, Missouri,

by (7) grandchildren and (4) great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Aloysius Welp will be held at 10:00 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on Monday, August 29th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Huntingburg).

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary’s Church Heritage Foundation.
