Alma C. Knies, 93

Alma C. Knies, age 93, of Celestine, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at home.
Alma was born in Celestine, Indiana on May 9, 1920 to Leo and Mary (Theising) Wehr. She married Henry Knies on June 10, 1941 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1992.
She was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church and the St. Celestine St. Ann’s Society.
She loved to cook, play cards, and vegetable and flower gardening. She also loved spending time with her family and friends
She is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Hagedorn, and her husband John, of Ferdinand, Kathleen Klem, and her husband U. Butch, of Jasper, Rose Ann Hall, and her husband John, of Dubois, and Therese Wessel, and her husband Fred, of Celestine; one son, George Knies, and his wife Charlene, of St. Anthony; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Eckert of Jasper.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two sons, Thomas and William Knies, one sister, Veronica Mendel, and two brothers, Leroy and Roman Wehr.
Funeral services for Alma C. Knies will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Celestine St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m.
