Allen E. Knies, 74, Jasper, passed away at 4:20 a.m.CST Wednesday, (May 11, 2016), in St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville.

He was born at Celestine, Indiana on March 5, 1942 to Leo T. and Irene (Haas) Knies. He married Virginia Buechlein on February 22, 1962 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Allen retired from Leitz Tooling Company in Jasper, he worked in tooling for over 40 years.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church- Holy Name Society, Jasper Outdooor Recreation, Schnellville Conservation, Lake Helmerich Village Association and Sebring Garden Association and Camping Hoosiers Club. Also, he was a forty year survivor from a transplant kidney donated by his brother Kenneth Knies.

He enjoyed his winter Florida home, fishing, traveling, spending time outdoors, being with family and had a great love for life.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Brian Knies and wife Joan of Jasper; two daughters, Renee Fuhrman and husband Bob Jr. of Jasper and Emily Stuckey and husband Josh of Fishers; six grandchildren, Courtney Knies, Adam T. Knies and Fiancé Jessica Lawson, Bailey S. Fuhrman, Avery , Corbin R. and Nolan A. Stuckey; two sisters,
Janice Mehringer and husband Kenneth of Jasper and Lori Baumeyer and husband Dean of Evansville; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Knies of Ferdinand; five brothers, Ronald Knies of Celestine, Herman Knies and wife Nancy of Jasper, Keith Knies and wife Debbie of Jasper, John Knies and wife Rosie of Arlington, Texas and Jack Knies and wife Jane of Goshen.

Preceding him in death is one brother Kenneth Knies.

Funeral services for Allen Knies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper at a later date.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in Holy family Catholic Church in Jasper.
