Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz presented the Key to the City to lifelong citizen Francis “Frankie” Ebenkamp Friday evening at the Jasper Wildcats football game at Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium.

“Frankie exemplifies so many qualities of a model citizen: Spirit, passion, community involvement, work ethic and service to our country” said Seitz. “It is with great distinction that he is presented with the Key to the City of Jasper.”

Ebenkamp, a 50-year employee of the former Jasper Wood Products, has been involved in the community through the Jasper Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and various JHS athletic booster clubs. He volunteered for the JHS track program for more than 50 years. “In addition”, Seitz added, “Frankie’s ‘All right, OK’ cheer is so well known other schools now mimic it. The Jasper-Vincennes Lincoln football game was a very appropriate setting for the presentation.”

A United States Marine during World War II, Ebenkamp saw combat on Iwo Jima in 1945 and he was awarded a Bronze Star. He and his late wife, Patricia, have a son, Scott, and three grandchildren.
