Alfred H. “Ferdie” Kleiser, 77

Alfred H. “Ferdie” Kleiser, age 77, of French Lick, formerly of Jasper, passed away at 7:38 a.m. Monday (October 9, 2012) at the Medco Health and Rehabilitation Center in French Lick, Indiana.
Alfred was born in Jasper on February 3, 1935 to Frank W. and Josephine (Gudorf) Kleiser. He married Rosalee Fleck on November 29, 2002 in Our Lady of Springs Catholic Church in French Lick, Indiana.
Alfred worked as a Parts Manager at Ruxer Ford in Jasper for many years, was a purchasing agent for Dolly Madison Industry, worked in the office at the Indiana Chair Company, and worked in the office at Kress Standard Oil for many years.
He was a member of the Jasper High School Class of 1953, and was the Kiwanis Outstanding Senior Boy in his class.
He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, the American Legion Post #147, and a member of the Jasper Reds.
He enjoyed playing softball. He coached in the Babe Ruth and Pony Leagues within the Jasper Youth Baseball Program. He was an avid fan of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers Major League Baseball team, and an Indiana University Basketball and Bob Knight Fan.

Preceding Alfred in death are two sisters, Mary Ann Prance and Norma Lee Kleiser, one brother, Leroy Kleiser, and one brother-in-law, Gilbert “Gip” Schuetter.
Funeral services for Alfred H. “Ferdie” Kleiser will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Friday (October 12, 2012) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rights.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday (October 11, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The class of 1953 will pray a rosary at 4:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church.
