ALERT: Weather Radio temporarily out of service, switch channels
According to the National Weather Service In Paducah, Kentucky the KIG76 NOAA Weather Radio located at Evansville, Indiana and operating on 162.55 MHz is temporarily out of service. This is the NOAA weather radio that most of DuboisCounty depends on to receive their weather alerts. Until KIG76 is repaired, the NWS is requesting everyone monitor alternative sources to receive their alerts.
Other NOAA weather radio stations that carry alerts for Dubois County include:
- WWG83 at Edwardsport in KnoxCounty which operates on 162.425 MHz which gives the best coverage to the NW portion of DuboisCounty.
- WWG72 at Georgia in LawrenceCounty which operates on 162.500 MHz which gives the best coverage to the NE portion of DuboisCounty.
If you adjust your weather radio to receive either of these alternate stations please insure the signal is adequate (not too noisy) in order to reliably receive weather alerts.
Other alternatives include tuning to your local media and the services they offer to keep informed of the developing weather situation.
