Albertine “Teeny” C. Martin, 95

Albertine “Teeny” C. Martin, 95, of Jasper, passed away at 7:33 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Teeny was born on June 19, 1920 in Jasper, Indiana to William and Anna (Otto) Schmitt. She married Howard A. Martin on September 7, 1946 in St. Joseph Church. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2001.

She was a homemaker and worked as a cook for the Jasper VFW Post #673 for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the VFW Post #673 Auxiliary. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, and cooking.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Chase and husband Michael of Philomath, Ore. and Virginia Shaw and husband Karl of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sons, Howard Martin Jr. and wife Mary K. Martin of Jasper and William Martin of Jasper; five grandchildren, Chris Cissell, Jennifer Shouse, Greg Shaw, Valerie Kempf, and Vanessa McKinney; eight great-grandchildren, C.J. Cissell, Christina Crapes, Jacob and Jenna Shouse, Konnor and Trevor Shaw, and Gabrielle and Elijah Kempf; one great-great-grandchild, Axl Crapes.

Preceding her in death besides her husband was one son James Martin, who died in infancy, one granddaughter Jacqueline Shaw; two sisters, Alvina May, and Leona Knust; and one brother, Edward “Brew” Schmitt.

Funeral services for Albertine Martin will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the Becher Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Jasper VFW Post #673 will perform a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
