Alberta A. Renner, 98, of Ireland, Indiana passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Alberta was born in Jasper, Indiana or January 7, 1916 to Lawrence and Mathilda (Sermersheim) Lechner. She married Albert A. Renner on November 24, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2004.

Alberta was a homemaker and enjoyed helping on the family farm. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the St. Ann’s Society, and was on the prayer line at St. Mary’s in Ireland. She also served as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing cards, cooking, and baking.

She is survived by three daughters, Lucinda “Cindy” Ree of Jasper, Marilyn Renner of Dunedin, Fla., and Evelyn Brown and her partner, Darryl Blanton, of Sonoma, Cali.; four sons, Arnie Renner, and his wife Katherine, Kenny Renner, and his wife Jane, Patrick Renner, and Mike Renner, and his wife Donna, all of Ireland; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Weisheit of Jasper and Lila Buechler of St. Anthony; one brother, Thomas Lechner, and his wife Betty, of Jasper.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one daughter, Janet Matheis, two sons-in-law, Jerry Rees and Jim Brown, three sisters, Bernadette Schnell, Delores Schuler, and Georgina Hasenour, and three brothers, Donald, Wilfred and Edward Lechner.

Funeral services for Alberta A. Renner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Mary’s St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a favorite charity.
