Albert L. Wigand, 89

Albert L. Wigand, age 89, of Dubois, Indiana, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at the home of his son Steve and Bev Wigand in Dubois.
He was born at Celestine, Indiana on October 24, 1924 to Pete and Veronica (Mercker) Wigand. He married Helen Brosmer on October 4, 1949 in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on August 23, 2011.
Albert was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII. He had worked for the former Hoosier Desk Company in Jasper and Louis Seger Poultry Farm and for Vernon Matheis Poultry Farm.
He is a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois and V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper.
His hobbies was woodworking, quilts tops and gardening.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Meyer, of Jasper and Linda Hentrup, of Dubois; three sons, Steve, Jeff and Randy Wigand, all of Dubois; two brothers, Paul Wigand, of Jasper and Simon Wigand, of Haysville; also surviving are grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife is one infant son Daniel and a daughter Pam Wigand; six sisters; Anna Voegerl, Cecellia Rohleder, Leona Kluemper, Frances Gehlhausen, Henrietta Voegerl and Marcella Voegerl; and two brothers, Raymond and Bernie Wigand.
Funeral services for Albert Wigand will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014, in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Raphael’s Cemetery. V.F.W Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.
