Albert J. Kunkler, 88, Ferdinand

Albert J. Kunkler, 88, of Ferdinand, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand.

Albert was born in St. Meinrad on January 8, 1937, to Joseph and Ottilla (Otto) Kunkler.

He was united in marriage to Imogene Klueh on October 31, 1959, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Albert was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and the St. Joseph’s Sodality. He was a United States Army veteran and served in Germany. Albert retired in 2002 after 36 years with The Jasper Corporation. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Imogene Kunkler; one daughter, Lynn (Dave) Rasche of Jasper; two grandchildren, Laura Rasche of Jasper and Brittany Rasche and husband Steven Bronson of Kansas.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerome and Hilbert Kunkler; and one sister, Lucille Bumm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, in St. Ferdinand Church. Burial with military graveside rites to follow in the church cemetery. Ferdinand Legion Post 124 will provide military graveside rites.

Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery Fund.
