Albert H. Fleck Jr., age 83, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Sunday (September 30, 2012) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born in Jasper, Indiana on August 4, 1929 to Albert Sr. and Emily (Hopf) Fleck. He married LaVerne Sermersheim on October 8, 1953 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death on October 28, 1980.

Albert was a veteran of the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division.

Albert owned A.H. Fleck Insurance Agency for many years.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the American Legion Post #147, Knights of Columbus, the Sierra Club, and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was past president of the Jasper Civitan Club, and was a past board member of SIRS and Anderson Woods. He was a Dubois County Councilman for 12 years, was Dubois County Clerk of the Circuit Court for eight years, and was a Precinct Committeeman for many years. He was also awarded the Brute Society Award for his service in the Catholic Faith to Holy Family Catholic Church.

He enjoyed flying paraplanes.

Preceding Albert in death bedsides his wife are two brothers, Harold and Raymond Fleck.

Funeral services for Albert H. Fleck Jr. will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday (October 3, 2012) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday (October 2, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to the Dubois County Community Foundation.
