Alan F. Wehr, 64, Ireland

Alan F. Wehr, 64, of Ireland, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
Alan was born in Jasper on September 25, 1953, to Joseph and Anna Marie (Buechler) Wehr.
He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a member of the Southern Indiana Leathernecks #931, and the American Legion Post #147. He retired as a truck driver for Henke Farms in Holland. He had also previously worked for Elmer Buchta Trucking in Otwell.
He was a member of the Otwell Ruritan Sled Team and a past member of the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175.
Surviving are two sisters, Kathy Rinderknecht of Ireland, Ind. and Kristy James of Ferdinand; one brother, Kenny Wehr of Birdseye; stepmother, Mary Wehr of Ireland; two nieces and two nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Randy “Tinker” Wehr, one sister Louise Wehr who died in infancy, and a brother-in-law Charles Rinderknecht.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alan Wehr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Southern Indiana Leathernecks Detachment #931 will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Ireland Fire Department, or a favorite charity.
