Advocates needed for child victims of abuse or neglect

Dubois County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is holding an informational meeting on February 9 at 7:30 a.m. at Dubois County Community Foundation located at 600 McCrillus Street in downtown Jasper.

“Last year in Dubois County, 184 children were involved in child abuse or neglect and became part of the system,” said volunteer Nicole Kreilein. “Being a CASA can be heartbreaking and frustrating but also extremely rewarding! If you’re looking for a meaningful volunteer experience, here’s one that will change lives.”

The one-hour meeting is designed to attract more volunteers by providing an opportunity to learn more about the CASA program and the role it plays in our community.

CASA volunteers are community members trained to represent children who are part of the court system due to abuse or neglect. Over 150 Dubois County children need a CASA each year.
