Actors Community Theatre unveils 2026-2027 performance season

Jasper–Actors Community Theatre (ACT) is proud to unveil its 2026–2027 Performance Season.

Frankenstein: The Radio Play

Adapted by Philip Grecian from the novel by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

Frankenstein: The Radio Play transports audiences back in time, blending classic radio storytelling with imaginative sound effects and minimal staging. Captain Robert Walton’s expedition to the Arctic takes an unexpected turn when he rescues the exhausted Victor Frankenstein, who recounts the horrifying consequences of his ambition to create life. As Victor’s abandoned Creature struggles with rejection and loneliness, a deadly conflict unfolds between creator and creation, leading them on a relentless pursuit driven by guilt, revenge, and the consequences of playing with forces beyond human control.

Frankenstein: The Radio Play will be presented October 8–10, 2026, at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center Black Box Theatre.

Steel Magnolias: Dinner Theatre Edition

Set in a lively Louisiana beauty salon, Steel Magnolias: Dinner Theatre Edition follows a close-knit group of Southern women whose wit, humor, and heartfelt friendships are as much a part of their routine as hairspray and hot rollers. As life’s joys and unexpected challenges unfold, they lean on one another with unwavering love, strength, and resilience. Filled with unforgettable characters, sharp humor, and heartfelt moments, this beloved story is a celebration of friendship, family, and the enduring bonds that carry us through every season of life.

Steel Magnolias: Dinner Theatre Edition will be presented March 4–7, 2027, at the Jasper Arts Center.

To close the season, ACT turns up the volume with something a little louder School of Rock: The Musical

Based on the Paramount movie by Mike White, Book by Julian Fellowes, Lyrics by Glenn Slater, and New Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Based on the hit film, School of Rock: The Musical is a high-energy, family-friendly comedy packed with electrifying rock music, laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of heart. Featuring an unforgettable score and a cast of talented young performers, this feel-good musical celebrates the power of music, self-expression, and discovering the confidence to be yourself. Perfect for audiences of all ages, School of Rock: The Musical is an exhilarating celebration of music, friendship, and finding your voice.

School of Rock: The Musical will be presented July 22–25, 2027, at the Jasper Arts Center.

For nearly 80 years, Actors Community Theatre Inc. (ACT) has provided a nurturing environment for area talent, produced quality productions at reasonable prices, and instilled in area youth skills that have real-world application.

As the local nonprofit performing arts organization approaches its 80th anniversary of serving the community, ACT celebrates the audiences, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters whose dedication has made nearly eight decades of theatre possible.

ACT has continued this tradition in recent years with successful productions of Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, and The Sound of Music. The organization has also produced dinner theatre favorites including This Murder Was Staged, Rumors, and These Shining Lives, along with radio plays such as Dracula, Twisted Tales of Poe, and Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus. An all-volunteer Board of Directors and generous community donations have played an integral part in the success of these and other ACT endeavors.
