Actors Community Theatre presents 'Legally Blonde: The Musical' this weekend

*Rayn Miller plays Elle Woods in the Actors Community Theatre production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical”.*

Actors Community Theatre will bring “Legally Blonde: The Musical” to the stage this week, running Thursday through Sunday at the Jasper Arts Center, 951 College Ave.

Based on the popular 2001 film, the musical follows Elle Woods, a fashionable and determined young woman who enrolls at Harvard Law School in pursuit of love, only to discover her own strength, intelligence and potential along the way. The show is filled with high-energy musical numbers and celebrates self-confidence, perseverance and staying true to yourself.

*Elle meets Paulette Buonufonte, played by Hannah Ingersoll, for the first time.*

Having caught Tuesday’s dress rehearsal, Rayn Miller as Elle is a standout. She brings sincerity to the role, echoing the earnestness Reese Witherspoon brought to the character in the original film without simply imitating it. Hannah Ingersoll, as Paulette Buonufonte, is just as memorable — bodacious and funny, but with a sincerity underneath the humor that gives the show some of its most heartfelt, loveworn moments.

The song and dance numbers hit the high notes with great performances, laughable moments, and genuine heart throughout the show.

The production is directed by Joshua Robinson and features a cast of local performers from throughout the region, including Nate Glaser, Heath Kluemper, Reggie Maute, Hannah Vollmer, Shelby Keeker, Kirsten Neukam, Haley Flamion, Mia Lawalin, Ella Hopf, Ty Hunter, Brynne Stephens, Drew Miller, Alec Lechner, Jeff Graves, Ellen Merrick, Kate Letterman Conway, Cassidy Esch, Larissa Callahan, Brody Berg, Colin McGowan and Katie Witt.

Audiences can expect dazzling choreography, vibrant costumes and a score packed with catchy songs including “Omigod You Guys,” “Bend and Snap” and “So Much Better.”

Catch Elle and Bruiser, played by Luna Swango, beginning Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. and going on through the weekend with shows Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m.

The show runs approximately two and a half hours. Tickets are $15 for general admission and are available at actorscommunitytheatre.com/tickets. The production is recommended for ages 12 and older.
