Fredie Lee Gehl, 83, Jasper

Fredie Lee Gehl, 83, of Jasper, passed away at 8:58 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Cathedral Health Care Center in Jasper.
Fredie was born in St. Anthony, Indiana, on December 29, 1932, to Herbert and Rose (Bolte) Gehl. His first marriage was to Yvonne Ann Wollberg on December 7, 1966. She preceded him in death on September 8, 1984. He then married Dorothy Trevathan on December 29, 1990. She preceded him in death as well.
Fredie was a Navy Veteran, who had worked as a baker, and served during the Vietnam War. He previously owned a restaurant in Milan, Tennessee. He also worked as a night watchman at a factory for several years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #147
He enjoyed reading, gardening, and taking walks.
He is survived by one daughter, Dawn Gehl of Tennessee; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Naomi Egler, and her husband Daniel of Jasper, Mary Lou Schmitt of Jasper and Ruth Sickbert and her husband Randy of Ferdinand; four brothers, Richard Gehl and his wife Tammy of Clarksville, Tenn., Donald Gehl and his wife Margaret of Warrenton, Va., Joseph E. Gehl of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and David Gehl and his wife Becky of Evansville; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are one son Shawn Gehl, and two sisters, Delores Snyder and Rosalie Johnson.
Funeral services for Fredie Lee Gehl will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Cathedral Health Care Chapel, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Fr. Angelo Quadrini will officiate. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rights.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service time at Cathedral Health Care Center on Wednesday.
