Jasper Utility Service Board: January 19, 2015

The Jasper Utility Service Board met for their first meeting of 2016 and welcomed two new members.

With David Hurst assuming his role as a Jasper Councilman and Doug Schulte retiring from the board, two spots opened up for 2016. Michael Kern and Derek Smith, both of whom are CPAs, were appointed to fill the vacancies.

Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz announced that all heads of departments would remain the same: Jerry Schitter over Electric Distribution; Ed Hollinden over Wastewater; Ernie Hinkle over Gas and Water, and Bud Hauersperger as Utility General Manager.

The City Council appointments to the USB committees includes: Earl Schmidt on the electric committee; Kevin Manley on the water committee; Greg Schnaar on the wastewater committee; and Dave Hurst on the gas committee.

The board also appointed officers; Rick Stradtner will continue as chairman, Dave Masterson was appointed vice-chairman, Derek Smith secretary, Alex Emmons wastewater commissioner, Michael Kern gas & water commissioner and Wayne Schuetter electric commissioner.

Hauersperger reported to the board that there’s a walk-through of the Jasper Power Plant scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday for those who can make it. He reports that they have received a number of interested inquiries including as far away as Michigan.

The board is accepting bids on the disposal of the power plant until February 23rd.

The board gave permission to Hauersperger to set up an additional date for a tour of the plant if needed.
